Cardio Vs Diet – Who Wins?

Eight out of ten questions that clients consistently ask me is how much cardio should they do to lose weight, and lose it fast. Now, if you’ve been training with me for a while or are participating in my local boot camps then you know that I’m not fond of cardio. I’m a huge advocate of incorporating more strength training in various applications to get way better results in a shorter amount of time, especially when coupled with a good diet (I’d rather call it supportive nutrition).

Anyway, my friend and mentor Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS, creator of Turbulence Training just put up a great video demonstrating the simplicity of who wins in regards to fat loss, Cardio or Diet? Just so you know, Craig has written a controversial book, “Just Say No To Cardio”, which has pretty much pissed off a lot of people who are addicted to cardio.

In the past four years I’ve taken a huge stance myself against traditional cardio being an effective tool for fat loss. I’ve seen more lasting results with the combination of proper nutrition, strength training, and intervals. But enough about that. Check out the video below to see who wins. Enjoy!
